So it’s hard to believe a man as seemingly perfect as ‘Dr Mike’ — dubbed the Sexiest Doctor Alive, by People Magazine — needs any help getting a date.

You can only imagine the response when he sent out a public plea for female company to his one million adoring Instagram followers last week.

The second-year resident at Overlook Medical Centre in Summit, New Jersey, specialises in family and sports medicine and is also a self-made social media entrepreneur and philanthropist, having launched his own charity Limitless Tomorrow Foundation, which aims to help people conquer their hardships to achieve their dreams.

And wait for it... he loves dogs.

But like all things that seem too good to be true, there’s a catch. Dr Mike’s love search is actually a fundraising appeal and the ‘date’ is a one off.

Dr Mike has teamed up with dating app Coffee Meets Bagel and is putting himself up for auction and inviting all ladies to donate money to go towards his charity.

Nevertheless, competition for the impossibly good looking medico is expected to be fierce.

One lucky lady will have him to herself for a whole weekend and will get to stay in a four-star hotel in New York City and dine at a Michelin starred restaurant.

A number of lovesick women have already taken to Twitter to express their interest in Dr Mike, with one even preferring a date with Dr Mike over winning the Powerball lottery.

He told Sunrise he was embarrassed by the Sexiest Doctor Alive title and said he was a big nerd at heart.

He confessed to being single and said he was looking for the perfect lady.
