Aussie college basketball star Ben Simmons once again filled up the stats sheet as his LSU Tigers defeated American University 79-51 on Tuesday night.

Simmons, 19, played 29 minutes in the easy win and racked up 23 points, six assists, five rebounds, three steals and a block, with just one turnover.

It was the Tigers' third consecutive win, taking their record to 7-4 on the season; curiously, all seven wins have come on their home court at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, and their four losses were suffered either on the road or at neutral venues.

The Victorian native is now averaging 18.7 points per game, along with 13.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists. He is widely expected to be the top pick in next year's NBA draft, with the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics looming as possible destinations.

The next game on the schedule for Simmons and the Tigers is a full week away, as they host Wake Forest at 11am on December 30th (AEDST). Their first in-conference game will be a couple of days later, as they travel to Vanderbilt. That game will be at 1pm on January 3rd (AEDST).

Simmons is rated as the number one player in college basketball by ESPN's draft experts Chad Ford and Kevin Pelton, and an 'elite NBA prospect'.
