Crown Group has become sole owner of Eastlakes Shopping Centre in Sydney’s south, with immediate renovations set to start in the new year.
The centre, 10km from Sydney’s CBD, had been jointly owned by Crown Group and private company, Prosha.
“2016 will mark a new direction and approach for Eastlakes Shopping Centre and our tenants and local residents will see a big improvement as we bring Crown Group’s expertise into the centre,†said Crown Group chief executive, Iwan Sunito.
“We’d like to reinvigorate Eastlakes Shopping Centre into a more vibrant place; improving the look and feel for our loyal customers and surrounding community in time for the new year.â€
The first stage of renovation works – including painting and signage replacement will be complete by December 31 2015. Additional improvements being considered for 2016 include new seating areas, improved flooring and adding a modern look to the community shopping centre.
Crown Group says it plans to eventually redevelop the shopping centre by demolishing existing buildings to make way for a modern architecturally-designed mixed-use retail and residential project.
The design for the future mixed-use retail and residential project was awarded Best Concept Design by Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW in 2014. “However customers can still shop at Eastlakes Shopping Centre for a few more years while we finalise our design,†said Sunito.
