One person has died and two others have been taken to hospital after a fatal traffic crash on Bruce Highway, west of Bundaberg.

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle traffic crash on the Bruce Highway in Monduran, about 20 kilometres north of Gin Gin, at 12.45pm.

Paramedics performed CPR on one of the three patients, however the person was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

A 65-year-old man was airlifted to Bundaberg hospital with a shoulder and back injury.

A 59-year-old woman was transported via ambulance to Bundaberg hospital with chest injuries.

Both were transported in stable condition.

Police have closed the highway in both directions and are diverting traffic via Rosedale Road.

The Forensic Crash Unit were investigating, with the highway expected to be closed for several hours.
