You could be forgiven for never leaving the day bed of this stunning Sunshine Beach new-build as you gaze at the views over the ocean, Noosa National Park and all the way to Caloundra.
Deborah Miller and Glen Watson bought a 1970s beach house three years ago and set about building a new home.
“The house had been on the market for a while, but Glen saw its potential. He got a ladder and climbed on to the roof and realised we could capture the best views in Noosa,†Miller says.
The Chris Clout-designed home has a stunning wet-edge pool that seems to float out from the living space, and luxurious day beds that would not look out of place in six-star resorts.
Glass doors fold away, opening the home to the ocean beyond and blurring the distinction between indoors and outdoors.
“The moment you walk through the gates, it’s all about the water,†Miller says. “I just really wanted those spectacular views to take centre stage.â€
The home has four bedrooms, with the opulent master suite occupying the entire top level.
While it has every luxury imaginable, Miller says it was important to retain a laidback beachside atmosphere.
“When you get in, you still just want to kick your shoes off and enjoy.â€
The home has sentimental value, with the couple — childhood sweethearts who reconnected 44 years later — getting married here.
Miller is an interior designer and Watson is a builder who has built many opulent homes in the area, so they are a productive partnership. But they bought the home as a development project and are ready to take on their next, so it’s time to sell.
