IT IS very likely Sydney’s most expensive cubby house that would require a very large piggy bank to buy.
With a $1.1 million price tag, the lucky kids who end up owning this cubby will probably have to ask mum and dad for a large advance on their pocket money.
But then mum and dad might be interested in buying the cubby house for themselves — given it sits on a 697sq m level block on the northern beaches.
The cubby at 41 Katrina Ave, Mona Vale has attracted plenty of buyer interest, LJ Hooker Mona Vale agent Josephine Cowling said.
The cubby’s northeast aspect had been a particular drawcard, Ms Cowling said.
“You can watch the sunrise from your cubby — if you can fit inside it,†she said with a laugh.
“It’s probably best suited to a buyer under 1m tall.â€
On a more serious note, Ms Cowling said there was plenty to appeal to parents, with vacant, near-level land of this size rare on the northern beaches.
“It is without a doubt one of the best blocks in the street but to find a vacant block ready to go like this is very rare,†she said.
The cleared site is surrounded by established homes, with potential for views across Bayview Golf Course from a second storey, subject to council and cubby owner approval.
The property, owned by Joan Haygarth, was originally part of a dairy that ran across Park St.
It goes to auction on November 28 and is open for inspection by appointment.
