This is what a renovated $30 million apartment looks like inside. Picture: Warburg Realty.

THE current owner of this apartment bought it in 2009 for $9.78 million and then proceeded with a breathtaking renovation reportedly for a further $25.2 million.

It was recently listed as one of New York City’s Top Ten City Homes with Private Pools.

Where did the money go? Well, for a start the blue walls in the billiards room, they are SO blue, but you won’t find it on a colour chart. It’s not Dulux, it is handpainted silk.

There is a terrace on each of the upper three floors, with views (though not breathtaking) to the city, and a roof garden on top.

But at the bottom there’s even more at which to marvel.

The 232 East 63rd St (listed with Warburg Realty in New York) property comes with a basement pool, though there should be a better word than basement when it come to this level. This lower level is anything but dark and dreary, thanks to the walls covered in hand-glazed glass tiles. They sure do sparkle.

$30.57 million

It that price tag is a little too far out of your reach, how about this apartment in Venice, Italy?

Nothing says true luxury as much as having your own, private water taxi entrance at the gate of your own Venetian apartment.

Then, throw in the fact that Mozart slept here, and top it all off with the belief that he created the character Don Giovanni from the owner of the property and you have one heck of a property in which to invest.

When you buy into a 15 Century former palace, the stories come thick and fast. This is the story of a superb renovation, restoration and development, called Palazzo Molin. Deep in the romantic city of Venice, a very rare opportunity exists to buy a newly developed apartment in a property steeped in history, surrounded by the waters of one of the most romantic cities in the world.

Of the 17 Sotheby’s International Realty listed luxury apartments here, only a few remain available for purchase. They range in price from the low eight hundred euros. However, the penthouse is something to behold at $4.88 million.

Back in New York, maybe this apartment not far from Park Avenue might take your fancy.

No. 44 Gramercy Park North, New York was built in 1929 – though Shakespeare would feel right at home.

Tudor was all the rage in blue blood circles, perhaps a throwback to Americans wanting a piece of the rich history of Europe, without actually ever donning their own suit of armour. On the market now is apartment 12A, the stained glass windows (of which there are 14), the 2m x2m fireplace, and extraordinary mouldings in wood and plaster make this a unique property, which has no doubt polarised buyers in the market.

The vendor, who has lived in this two-bedroom apartment some 17,000 days (his measurement not mine) wrote so eloquently of his property, and with such deep affection, it is the main source of agent (Warburg Realty New York) blurb for the home.

In part, I quote the vendor below.

“Safely inside the landmark district, we have avoided the inferno of change that has mired other neighbourhoods. Gramercy is elegant and bohemian. You won’t find a better place to call home.”

It is listed for $7.8 million.
