The sex toy was thrown from the away end by Tranmere fans at Wrexham FC’s Racecourse Ground, in Wales, during the second-half of the 2-2 draw.

It was quickly cleared from the pitch by Davies, 28, but not before it had been caught on camera by Craig Colville.

Craig said: “I was covering the game when I heard a thud.

“I saw what I thought was a carrot and thought, ‘What sort of football fan would take a carrot to a game?’

“When I realised what it was, I thought, ‘Crikey, that could have taken someone’s eye out or chipped a tooth.’”

Following the game, Wrexham town centre inspector Paul Wycherley, of North Wales Police, took to Twitter to confirm a male had been arrested “for throwing a missile onto the playing area”.
