PAULINE Hanson was in a fiery mood this morning and Today host Karl Stefanovic landed in hot water after suggesting she could be overshadowed by Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie.
The controversial leader of One Nation came out swinging on the program after being asked about suggestions she was a “white supremacistâ€, saying “what a load of hogwashâ€.
“I’ve never said one racist thing in my life,†Hanson said. “I speak the way I see it and I speak the truth.â€
Stefanovic picked up Hanson’s combative vibe early, telling her: “you’re on fire this morningâ€, but that did not stop him from antagonising her further by asking whether she had any Muslim friends.
“I possibly may have, I have met Muslim people over the years by all means,†Hanson said, adding that she didn’t ask about the religious background of those she met.
When pushed she said: “I went down to Bankstown and met some Muslim women who stood around and had a chat with me that time.
“But that’s not the whole point here, Karl, whether you speak to people or not, you look behind the scenes at what they are teaching in the Koran.â€
She said she would like to see an Imam come out and denounce “section 4.882 I think or 89 of the Koran†which instructs that pagans who were nonbelievers should be slayed.
When Stefanovic pointed out there was stuff in the Bible that could be taken literally too, Hanson said “I hear this all the timeâ€, before saying that was in the first testament, “the second testament is totally differentâ€.
Stefanovic continued to prod her on the issue, asking whether she would accept a Muslim into One Nation.
Hanson said her party’s membership forms didn’t ask what religion people were before admitting: “I can’t see any Muslim wanting to sign up to my partyâ€.

She also repeated comments she made in 2010 that she would not sell her house to a Muslim.
“I haven’t jumped on the bandwagon in the last five minutes like a lot of other people,†she said. “I have been saying they are incompatible, their beliefs, their culture, their laws, their way of life is incompatible with the Australian way of life and until we come to grips with that, it’s not going to change and this is not the last murder of terrorism that we will see on our streets.â€
When Stefanovic tried to clarify further, Hanson hit back with “Oh Karl, get over itâ€.
Stefanovic persisted, asking her why she wouldn’t accept a Muslim who wanted to join her party.
“OK fine, fill out the form, let’s have an executive meeting, see if you pass the criteria that you need it to join a political party,†she finally relented.
Hanson was also asked what she thought about Parramatta Mosque chairman Neil El-Kadomi and reports that he would tell his congregation on Friday that there needed to be respect for the country they lived in and “If you don’t like it, leaveâ€.
“Exactly right, good on him,†Hanson said. “I’d like to meet the man and shake his handâ€.
She said a camera should film the statements and the reaction of the congregation and “spread it out around the countryâ€.
Hanson, who has made similar comments that Muslims need to assimilate, said more Muslim leaders should stand beside her.
“If they respect this country and the Australian people, our culture, our way of life then stand beside me and say exactly the same and get rid of this terrorism off our streets,†she said.
Despite her already fiery performance, Stefanovic’s last question seemed to set her off the most.
He asked: “I see the problem for you is that Jacqui Lambie is almost out Pauline-Hansoning Pauline Hanson these days. How are you going to find your own voice in all that noise?â€
Last night the controversial Tasmanian senator revealed on panel show The Verdict that she had received death threats over her comments about Islam and Sharia law, including one letter that contained graphic photos of a beheading.

Hanson laughed before hitting back with: “I’m talking to you, Karl, aren’t I? It’s not Jacqui Lambie standing here, it’s Pauline Hansonâ€.
Stefanovic started laughing saying: “Well, there you go, you can’t be silencedâ€.
But Hanson wasn’t finished, saying: “So what’s your problemâ€, before saying “I’m not going to be (silenced)â€.
“People see me as a person who says it the way it is.â€
