The 7th edition of Asia Contemporary Art Show, is an exhibition focused on celebrating the work of established artists -- while granting exposure to newer names in the industry. Show director Mark Saunderson describes Chinese artist Lin Yun as "a newcomer, and a perfect fit for a younger buyer." A collection of 5 of Lin Yun's wood paintings, titled "Anxiety Whitewash," will be on sale, priced between $600 to $1,500.Â

Chinese artist Pang Yongjie is gaining international recognition for his works. Although his collection is still growing, he is described by Asia Contemporary Art Show as a "leading Chinese artist who has championed China's post-contemporary abstract movement," and has established a dedicated following and fan base. "He has a distinct style and approach to his canvas," Saunderson explains. "Yet, he is still young enough to be considered an emerging artist."Â

Dutch artist Irene Hoff is currently based in Indonesia, and her work takes inspiration from several cities in Southeast Asia that she has previously lived in, including Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. Her work is also threaded with hints of her western heritage, often adding small motifs or passport stamps within her collages that pay tribute to her home in Amsterdam.Â

Another name that Saunderson highlights is Chinese artist, Du Haijun. According to Saunderson, Haijun has gained significant recognition in China for his ability to "re-imagine a cityscape -- it takes you through a window and creates this distinction between the outer world and the inner world."

The Asia Contemporary Art Show also joined forces with British artist, Jeff Murray, and commissioned work that reinterprets the Hong Kong skyline using Murray's signature ink work technique. This piece, according to Murray, showcases the "vibrant urban jungle" and greenery hidden behind the Asian city's man-made skyline.

Another international artist is Jean Michel Garczynski. Garczynski's creative experience began in advertising design, but it is the "abstract nature" or his mixed media art that is, according to Saunderson, the most appealing element of his work. Although Garczynski has been building his name in the industry for more than 15 years, this will be his first entry into the Hong Kong market. Â

Mark Saunderson selects Martin Lever as one of his personal favorites. Lever is a Hong Kong-based artist who is showing his work at an exhibition of this scale for the first time. Lever's work offers a new perspective of famous Hong Kong landscapes by portraying them through an aerial view. "Above Aberdeen" is an example of this, and shows the historic Aberdeen Harbour in Hong Kong from a new vantage point. "Although it's abstract, there's still a strong sense of familiarity," explains Saunderson.Â

A Chinese artist working primarily with oil on canvas, Hong Haochang's works pay particular attention to the history and culture of Chinese art. Saunderson highlights Hong as a "career artist," or someone, he explains, "who is fully committed to building his craft and signature." Saunderson says these "career artists" are important for new collectors to consider when selecting their first investment, due to their growing presence in the art world.Â

Hong Kong-based artist Dragon Ken may be a relatively young artist, but his work has garnered a fan base across Asia, with over 60 different awards to his name. "Graphically, his work is whimsical and engaging," says Mark Saunderson, the show's curator and director. "He's an interesting artist to watch, especially for younger buyers, with whom his work will really resonate."

Sculptures are particularly interesting for Saunderson, as he notes that they are not as widely represented as paintings or photography. This artist, Moon Shin, is a Korean artist who has gained quite a lot of traction in his hometown but will be exhibiting his work in Hong Kong for the first time. "The use of materials particularly resonated with the selection committee, because he creates these sculptures and forms primarily using bronze," Saunderson explains.Â

Saunderson selects Korean artist Lee Ufan as an example of a well established artist, and says he is a must-see for serious collectors. "He's mature enough as an artist that there's now editions of his original work as well."Â

Saunderson explains that the show is not just limited to featuring Asian talent, but is committed to exhibit international talent, as long as the artist and their technique is of interest to the market. Petr Mavshov, for example, is an artist from Russia who will be exhibiting a series of sculptures at the show.Â

Also featured at the Asia Contemporary Art Show is the work of early modernist, Marc Chagall. The exhibit will showcase several of Chagall's lithographs, which is a printing technique built using wax, ink and stone. Lithography is often regarded as Chagall's preferred technique, and is was "part of his artistic production until his death."
