British ‘It’ girl Clara Paget for Paspaley.
SHE’S often photographed alongside other famous faces Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse but there’s a lot more to Clara Paget than meets the eye.
The 26-year-old British model and actor, who has graced the pages of Vogue and modelled for global brands including Burberry, recently ventured to Australia to feature in Paspaley’s 2015 brand campaign.
Paget headed to the Kimberley to create the jewellery brand’s short film, Behind the Lens, written and directed by Ariel Kleiman. She also shot Paspaley’s latest collection in the remote locations of the Kimberley with fashion photographer Regan Cameron.
“While the amazing Paspaley jewellery and the stunning Kimberley Region certainly drew me to this project, the opportunity to work with Ariel and Regan to merge the worlds of acting and modelling was very interesting to me,†Paget told news.com.au of the project, her first visit to Australia.
“I’ve come all the way from London for five days of filming in the Kimberley, it’s all very exciting, it reminds me of Hanging Rock — the dream within a dream situation.â€

Paget has been acting since 2009, appearing in St Trinians 2, Fast & Furious and starring in TV series Black Sails. She’s also been modelling since she was just 15, but is determined not to be defined by her early years in front of the camera.
“They’ve always gone hand in hand for me, some people think it can be detrimental and that it’s a bad thing to be a model slash actor.
“I don’t like that title at all, I don’t know why it’s seen as a bad thing because you just get this incredible experience in front of the camera and learn to be comfortable in front of the camera,†she said.
“The most important thing to do with modelling for me, is that it doesn’t feel like a transition as such because I was alway acting. and I always considered myself an actor.â€
Paget added that she wasn’t actually signed by a modelling agent until she was 17, she wanted to finish her education first and not “get sidetracked by that world.â€
“I was always an actor to begin with and got offered some modelling jobs which made me some money and actually helped me pay for my studies.â€

The world Paget refers to is one of glamour, style and fame. Among her pals, she counts Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse and Aussie actor Toby Schmitz as some of those closest to her and credits them with helping her remain grounded.
“I have always had the same group of friends, some of them are now actually doing very well in the industry themselves.
“But I just have a great base at home, I’ve had a boyfriend the last five years, we have a home together and that’s my base in London, which is really important to me.
Paget has received huge acclaim for her starring role as pirate Anne Bonny in the Starz adventure series Black Sails, which also stars Aussie actor Luke Arnold.
“I’m the only female pirate in the show, I have red hair so I have to die my hair red every six weeks,†she said, adding that the cast members attended ‘pirate camp’ to prepare for the role, following a strict regimen and learning stunts such as sword fighting and wielding double daggers.
“I’ve become a bit of a ninja, my skills are pretty amazing,†she said.
