THIS is what true love looks like.

When 92-year-old Howard left to go and fight in the second World War, his adoring wife Laura serenaded him with Alice Faye’s 1940s lovesong,“You’ll Never Know”.

She would repeat the words to herself when she felt alone, as a comfort, while he battled on at war.

Now, 73 years later, Bernard has taken to her bedside and returned the gesture, as Laura lives out her final days. Laura suffers from muscular degeneration and can no longer see, but called on Howard to hold her as he sung the words.

The tearful moment was caught on camera by the couple’s granddaughter, Erin Solari.

She wrote: ‘This was the song my grandmother would sing when my grandfather went away to fight in World War II. It has been their love song ever since.

‘Our family is happy to share the love that we have for each other with anyone who will enjoy it,’ she wrote on her Youtube page.

Laura stares in to Howard’s eyes as he sings her the words and strokes her face. She can be heard chiming in, repeating the words back to him.

“It was not uncommon for the pair to serenade each other with the song, especially at family gatherings. After fifty years of marriage, they renewed their vows and performed this song as a duet for the entire family at the reception,” Erin wrote.
