SCHAPELLE Corby has refuted rumours that she is pregnant.
The 38-year-old reported to her parole officer for her normal monthly report-in on Monday. It is understood that she addressed persistent rumours in the press that she is pregnant.
As usual, she was reminded to stay away from crime and drugs.
Corby turned up at the parole board wearing the same batik-inspired dress she frequently wears when reporting on parole, with a blue scarf draped around her shoulders.
She arrived on a motorbike and after realising she was being photographed, tried to shield her face with the motorbike helmet.
Corby told the photographers to leave her alone.
She spent about 10 minutes inside meeting with her parole officer Putu Andiyani before leaving again on the motorbike.
It is understood that during the short parole meeting, Corby was asked about Australian media reports that she was pregnant.
Corby is understood to have replied: “No, I am not. How could I be pregnant? I don’t have a boyfriendâ€. She is understood to have said that she had put on weight but was not pregnant and spent a lot of time at home.
It is understood that the parole officers questioned Corby about her former boyfriend, Ben Panangian, noting that he was now free from jail. Corby replied that he was free but she wasn’t with him.
She was also reminded not to associate with friends who could involve her in drugs, something which is banned under her parole conditions.
Last month Corby also met the head of the correctional division at the Justice Ministry. She also told him that she did not have a boyfriend.
The Justice Ministry chief, who is retiring, had requested a meeting with Corby before leaving the post. Corby attended with her brother-in-law, Wayan Widyartha, who is her parole guarantor.
But on the day the chief was not available and instead Corby met with the correctional division head, Nyoman Putra Surya Atmaja.
Mr Atmaja said the Justice Ministry was also in charge of monitoring Corby’s parole.
“The meeting was just part of her parole reporting as we also need to monitor her. We only talked about how she was, to assure her that we are still monitoring what she does,†Mr Atmaja said.
“She said that she is fine. When asked what her activity is, she said she is mostly at home. She sometimes goes surfing,†he said.
Mr Atmaja said Corby told them she was not certain about the future and what she would do when she was finally free.
“She said she was still thinking and discussing about it with her family. She said she is yet to think about marriage.â€
Freed from jail on parole in February last year, Corby is required to remain in Bali, reporting monthly on parole, until August 2017.
Shortly after her release Corby helped refurbish the Kuta surfwear shop which her sister and brother-in-law own. But after reporters started posing as tourists in order to talk with her, Corby became shy of being so publicly visible and has not worked there for some time.
It is understood she now does not work.
Corby and Panangian met in 2006 while both were in Kerobokan jail and started a relationship behind bars. Their love affair continued for a while after Panangian was released from jail after serving his sentence, and then upon Corby’s release 18 months the pair was again seen together, refurbishing the Kuta shop.
But then in August 2014 Panangian was arrested on fresh drugs charges and sentenced to 10 months jail for using marijuana. He served his sentence in Kerobokan prison and was released in June this year.
