From supermodel Cara Delevingne (who has performed with Pharrell Williams) to indie princess Sky Ferreira, Didier Cohen and even Erica Packer, these are the models who have made the move into music.

DIDIER COHEN

APART from modelling and his mentor role on Australia’s Next Top Model, Didier Cohen has carved a successful career as a DJ.

In July, the 30-year-old American-born model announced he had “signed to a label” (Sony) and he released a snippet of his first single Skyline overnight.

“I’ve been in the studio for the past 3 years working endlessly on music. Many horrible demos.. Many thrown away ideas but the dream has come true,” Cohen wrote on Facebook.

Skyline, featuring AJ Smith, is due out on September 11.

CARA DELEVINGNE

THE British model-turned-Paper Towns actor performed a song CC The World with Pharrell Williams at a Chanel show in April, which featured in the French fashion house’s short film, Reincarnation.

Delevingne has reportedly collaborated with her “wifey” Rita Ora, and sang a duet, Sonnentanz, with Will Heard.

SKY FERREIRA

She has modelled for Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein and adidas, and was the face of hair brand Redken.

But last year US model Sky Ferreira became a major player in the indie music scene (and a Triple J darling) with the release of her debut album, Night Time My Time, which included the single You’re Not The One and a tour Down Under on the Splendour In The Grass bill.

ERIKA HEYNATZ

Leggy Aussie model Erika Heynatz showed off her singing talents on reality show It Takes Two, and released an album, Sweeter Side, having penned songs with one of Kelly Clarkson’s producers.

CARLA BRUNI-SARKOZY

The former first lady of France is a model, actor and singer, having released her fourth album Little French Songs this year.

KAREN ELSON

She was once married to former White Stripes frontman Jack White (the couple split in 2013). As a model, Karen Elson walked in shows for Marc Jacobs, Dior, Burberry and Chanel.

She has covered Fleetwood Mac’s Gold Dust Woman and released an album, The Ghost Who Walks, in 2010.

The former wife of casino mogul James Packer was a successful model in her own right before trying her vocal chords at a pop career, with the release of album Through My Eyes in 2007, under a record deal with Sony.

CHEYENNE TOZZI

She was one of the youngest models to feature on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. The former Face mentor is the lead singer of Van Hoorn, whose songs include Birdy and Cocaine.
