AMBRA is 23 years old and lives in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Jennifer is 33 and lives in Spring, Texas. The two women are not related and until recently, had never met. But they look almost identical.
Ambra and Jennifer first connected through the website Twin Strangers, an online project which helps people find their real-life doppelganger anywhere in the world.
The two women matched after Jennifer uploaded her photo to the website.
“One day I came home from work and I read about this site Twin Strangers,†Jennifer explains in a YouTube video documenting their meet-up.
“I just put in my parameters, and there she was.â€
“When I finally met her, it was like ‘Oh my goodness, there’s another person, she really does have my face!’,†Ambra said.
Jennifer was curious to see if she and her doppelganger shared similar personality traits.
“I have always felt a bit out of place. I thought it would be fun to find someone that I might have more in common with,†she said.
The duo was styled identically for a photoshoot, wearing the same shirt, makeup and hairstyle.
“There was a moment after we did our makeup that I looked in the mirror. I thought I was looking at myself at first, but the mirror wasn’t angled properly for that.â€
“When I realised my mistake, I turned the mirror and felt a jolt of shock when I saw us together. It was actually a pretty terrifying feeling, like seeing your own ghost,†Jennifer said.
One of the video’s most heartwarming moments is when Jennifer’s mother Karen meets Ambra. Karen was so blown away, she even asked Ambra if she is adopted.
“You look so much like my daughter! Your smiles are the same. How is this possible?†she said.
Twin Strangers was started by Dublin woman Niamh Geaney and two of her friends, Harry English and Terence Manzanga, in April this year.
After Ms Geaney founder her own doppelganger - another Irishwoman who lived just 30 minutes away - she started the project to help connect identical strangers all around the world.
Jennifer and Ambra are the first US-based strangers to have a meet-up organised by the project.
