But when she hadn’t delivered after 10 months, it was revealed she faked her pregnancy with help from the internet.

The unidentified 16-year-old from Michigan in the US bought bogus ultrasound pictures from a website called Fakeababy.com to convince family and friends she was expecting, according to a report by Fox2 Detroit.

When the teen first announced her pregnancy, relatives were shocked.

Her young boyfriend, Jordan, remembers he was “excited” and “scared” about becoming a dad, but said he was ready for the challenge.

“I started looking for jobs the best I could. I was ready to donate all my time,” he said.

As the months passed, gifts and money poured in from a local church, a not-for-profit group and a Facebook group called “Moms of Triplets”.

In May, relatives threw a baby shower for the teen who had already named her three unborn children — Ivan, Alice and Isabella.

“She got tonnes of help,” Jordan’s aunt, Jessica Adams, said. “The gifts, they couldn’t even open at the shower there was so much.”

But after the nine-month mark, supporters grew suspicious.

Jordan’s mum, Krissy Wyrabkiewicz, said she couldn’t find the teen’s doctor, adding the expectant mother refused to take Jordan to medical appointments.

The teen explained away suspicions, saying doctors told her the triplets needed more time to grow.

A sceptical member of the “Moms of Triplets” Facebook group undertook her own investigations.

She discovered the teen’s ultrasound pictures were identical to those found on Fakeababy.com. She has not commented publicly.

Jordan’s aunt, Tracy Matthews, said she was shocked at the discovery.

“Down to baby A, baby B, baby C, the placements of the babies — they’re the exact same,” she said.

“You can put them side by side and the only difference you’re going to see is that she used a fake doctor that doesn’t exist. She put my nephew’s name on the ultrasound, which you cannot do.”

Jessica Adams, another of Jordan’s aunts, called police.

“I told the hotline she has three babies that she’s supposed to be full term with, and she won’t go to the hospital and they don’t have heartbeats. So, they sent detectives over there and she finally cracked and told the detectives that she lost them at six weeks,” she said.

While the teen has not commented, her brother said she was pregnant but miscarried.

“She didn’t tell anybody. She was scared and didn’t know what to do. All donations she took are being returned,” the brother said.

Police said they are investigating. It is not clear if the girl was ever pregnant.

Fakeababy.com is a “gag” website that sells fake ultrasounds, silicone pregnancy bellies, silicone breast push-ups, pregnancy tests and DNA tests.

The ultrasounds and sonograms range from $US19.95 to $US39.95.
