Sunday’s episode of AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead†failed to hold on to its huge, record-breaking ratings from its premiere last week. But it certainly faced some stiff competition.
Episode 2 earned a 4.1 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18 year-old to 49 year-old demographic. That’s 16 per cent lower than last week’s record-breaking 4.9 rating, according to preliminary Nielsen ratings.
The second episode was watched by 8.2 total viewers, which means it lost 1.9 million viewers from the 10.1 who showed up for last week’s debut.
Certainly, there are a few factors to consider here. It is expected that a show will lose viewership from its premiere episode. Very, very few shows see the kind of week-to-week ratings increases that Fox’s “Empire†did.
Also, there was some really stuff competition on Sunday, including the MTV VMAs and a pre-season “Sunday Night Football†game.
