The Canberra Gunners' meagre finals hopes have officially evaporated after a huge display from Ben Allen failed to guide them to victory in an 88-79 road loss to Bendigo Braves on Saturday night.
Allen racked up 22 points, nine rebounds and three assists but the Braves set up the win with a 50-34 first half.
Tony Lewis was dominant for Bendigo with 31 points and 13 rebounds.
The Gunners have now slumped to 7-12 and are three-and-half games outside the South East Australian Basketball League's east conference top four.

In the women's clash, 41 points from Bendigo skipper Kerryn Harrington condemned the Canberra Capitals Academy to a heavy 92-55 defeat.
Staca Robertson was outstanding for the Braves, finishing just short of a triple-double with 24 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.
Julia Forster (14 points, 18 rebounds, four assists) led the way for Canberra, while skipper Kristen Langhorn (18 points) also contributed strongly.
