In 2011, children and families in the Horn of Africa faced one of the worst droughts in recent history. Climate change is having a huge impact on this part of the world, where many families rely on rain-fed agriculture as their sole source of food and income. ChildFund responded to the emergency in Kenya and Ethiopia, providing food, water and medical support, and ramping up longer-term solutions, including drilling wells and constructing rainwater cisterns. ChildFund's response targeted children under five - who are most vulnerable in an emergency situation - and pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. In this video, you will meet Beyenech who was pregnant during the drought and feared for the health of her baby. The video also shows how donations from the Australian public and matched funding by the Australian Government enabled ChildFund to act quickly and support families through this difficult time.
