Watch as Better Homes and Gardens shows you how to create container water fountains! This calming addition to any other outdoor patio ideas will leave you feeling soothed, no matter the the time of day. The only things you'll need to create a water feature of your own are a container fountain kit, a container, and a few water-loving plants. Select a container that is large enough for your fountain and doesn't have any drainage holes in the bottom, like this 7x24-inch bowl. It should also be deep enough to keep a small pump submerged in water. You'll want to place the bowl on the edge of your patio or garden near an outdoor outlet. Nearby flowers can help conceal the outdoor fountain's power cord. Place the pump in the center of the bowl and fill it with fresh water. Plug in the pump and choose your desired water setting, like the bell effect seen here. Add water plants of your choosing to the water fountain, placing decorative stones atop the soil in the pot to prevent the soil from splashing out. Some plants, like the cypress, need soil for growth, so place the plant, pot and all, into the water feature. Water lettuce can be added as well, which floats freely. This patio decor water feature is the perfect blend of simple and relaxing, and it is sure to help you achieve a serene mood after a long day!
