"I Was HUNGRY and You Gave Me Something to Eat"
Newhall Coffee to provide 150,000 meals via online sales of coffee & at select Costco & Sam's Clubs
October 8, 2013 -- Newhall, CA - Newhall Coffee Roasting Company declared its covenant to answer the urgent, life-sustaining necessities of mankind through sales of coffee. Starting today, and through the end of the year, each 2lb bag of "I Was HUNGRY" coffee sold at Costco, Sam's Club and online at newhallcoffee.com will provide 10 meals to suffering children in America and all over the world via Children's Hunger Fund.
Newhall Coffee has vowed to provide a minimum of 150,000 meals. "I Was HUNGRY coffee was created to connect coffee with causes," said Mitch McMullen, Newhall Coffee's Founder & C.E.O. "Donations to charity are way down these days, but Americans are still drinking coffee. We want to give people a way to enjoy their coffee while still giving to essential causes like childhood hunger."
Newhall Coffee is introducing a new line of single origin, premium coffees with a cause. "I looked at my talents and thought, how can I be used for the greater good, not my own good. Then I looked at my company and thought how can our coffee be used for the greater good?" continued McMullen. "My life is not worth the air I breathe if I don't do something. God-willing, an everyday cup of joe can make a difference. We did it with Leukemia for my brother Corey (2X L.A. Man of Year). We did it for U.S. troops (donated 4 million cups), I believe we can do it for the least of these through Children's Hunger Fund"
Known as one of America's most cost-effective charities, Children's Hunger Fund (CHF) has distributed more than 1 billion dollars in food and other resources, serving the needs of more than 20 million children throughout the U.S. and in seventy-two countries worldwide. Since 1991, 99% of CHF's total revenue has been used for programs helping kids.
"I am thrilled to know that Newhall Coffee has chosen to stand with us in our mission to deliver hope for suffering children," said Dave Phillips, president and founder of CHF. "We make choices every day—what to eat, what to drink—but it is so important that we make choices that truly help the helpless and feed the hungry."
