‘NO ONE LIKES HIM ANYMORE’: TOMIC’S SHOCKING HEWITT SPRAY
The 26-year-old said a number of Australian players dislike Hewitt and the way he operates, before suggesting he has a conflict of interest with the players he manages.
AUSTRALIAN OPEN CONFIDENTIAL: YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS
Hewitt’s manager, David Drysdale from W Sports & Media, labelled Tomic’s comments as inaccurate and said the two-time Grand Slam champion would be responding later on Tuesday.
“There is a number of inaccuracies and I’m sure Lleyton will address all of that this afternoon,” Drysdale told Melbourne radio station SEN on Tuesday morning.
“I’m not going to comment on it.”
Tomic suggested young players such as Jordan Thompson, Alex Bolt and Marc Polmans were being treated more favourably than he, Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios are by Hewitt and Tennis Australia.
Despite his previous success at the Australian Open, Kokkinakis wasn’t given a wildcard.
“Bolty, Polmans, all of these guys, they’re under his wing, so they get a percentage of that,” he said.
“So, it’s conflicts of interest. I think it’s terrible. They’re all under Lleyton’s wing, under the management company. It’s all a conflict of interest.”
