The Heathcote wine region of Victoria, Australia is an important centre for Shiraz production and Cambrian soil. The region plays host to several wineries responsible for award-winning wines. One such winery is Heathcote winery. Established in 1978, it was one of the first commercial wineries in Heathcote. Its origin dates back to 1854 when entrepreneur Thomas Craven established ‘Craven’s Stores’ to cater to the needs of gold miners seeking their fortune in the region. 2018 The Origin Shiraz
The Origin Shiraz hails from the single vineyard range of wines. Grown in the ancient red Cambrian soils and hand-picked from the old blocks at the Newlans Lane vineyard this wine is crafted to reflect the concentration and elegance of Heathcote Shiraz. Fermented in small batches the wine is then aged in exquisite French oak giving it beautiful fine tannins and great length on the palate. Drink now or cellar for 10+ years.
The Wilkins Shiraz
The Wilkins truly captures everything that makes Heathcote a world-class producer of premium shiraz – richness, power, intensity and elegance. Selected exclusively from the finest fruit grown in the rich red Cambrian soils, this wine is produced in extremely small batches and made using only traditional wine-making techniques.
2018 Slaughterhouse Paddock Shiraz
Grown on the old cattle holding yards and hand-picked from the old vines at the Slaughterhouse Paddock Vineyard, this wine is made to reflect the power and richness of Heathcote Shiraz. Ripe, robust and generously flavoured, this beautifully crafted shiraz offers an infusion of dark berry fruits and cedary oak-derived spices. Subtle hints of black pepper and dark chocolate further assist the palate, creating mouthfeel and viscosity.
2018 Mail Coach Shiraz
Grown predominantly on the ancient red Cambrian soils, this wine is made from a blend of two vineyards. Full of deep dark concentrated fruit, the wine is added with 2% viognier to create an extra layer of complexity. Vintage 2018 delivered warm days and cool nights, providing a long, slow maturation period. The result is intensely dark berry fruit aromatics that leads on to a palate full of flavour.
