FOR quite a while now, retailers such as Kmart and ALDI have been battling it out to see who can create the most buzz around a reasonably-priced item of furniture.

Kmart had a good go at it last year with the footstool/shoe rack that had people around the country pleading for information on which stores were still stocking it.

Then they released a $29 marble table that caused a similar stampede.

ALDI returned fire with the rocking chair that breastfeeding mothers were scrambling for, queuing up outside their local supermarket hours before it went on sale to secure this “cult” item.

Well there’s a new player in the game, giving these big-names a run for their money.

Introducing The Reject Shop armchair, which just racked up more than 2,000 likes on Instagram:

The Scandinavian-style chair — which is yet to go on sale — has had a flurry of comments on Instagram, including “Oh my, this is gorgeous,” “hope you have a lot of them ready for us all!” and “farkkk, I want two!!”

A spokeswoman for The Reject Shop confirmed to news.com.au that the chair will cost $59 and is available in-store from March 15.

The Reject Shop seems keen to capitalise on the current frenzy for reasonably priced homewares, posting a string of other stylish items on their Instagram feed.

... And if that’s not to your taste, there’s always this truly strange jacket that you can buy your dog. There really is something for everyone.
