Earlier this year we had Martin Whetton, Senior Rates Strategist at ANZ Bank, appear on our Devils and Details podcast to talk all things interest rates.

It was undoubtedly one of our best shows of the year, thanks to the vast knowledge and experience he was able to share.

Well, it appears that Martin is not just a rates market guru.

Following a more than 400% surge in the value of Long Island Iced Tea Corporation shares on Thursday on news the company would change its name to “Long Blockchain Corp”, Martin penned the following poem to describe the current craziness of the crypto world.

It really is a beauty, and probably sums up what many of you are thinking right now.

Here it is.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all over the street,
The traders in dress down, no shoes on their feet.
Their books had all wound down, positions were square,
In hope that some Bitcoin would make its way there.

The sales desk were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of tickets danced in their heads.
Hopes for new issues, volatility too,
And clients eager to buy something new.

When off in cyberspace there arose a great clatter,
Long Island Tea has rebranded, it’s Blockchain what matters.
No one understands it, and that is the deal,
It’s like the dot com, but this time it’s real.

I’m selling my house and cashing in school fees,
The doubters can’t see the wood for the trees.
The lustre of buying everything nice,
Will increase each day as I watch the rise in the price.

Oh Bitcoin, oh blockchain, oh techy bubble,
I know that one day this will turn into trouble.
For now, I’m just going to go for the ride,
But if my wife finds out, she will skin my hide.

Enough of this mess, screamed the SEC,
We’ve had it with bubbles, it’s another South Sea.
The price has collapsed, I’ve got nothing left,
My money has gone, my hopes are bereft.

The laugh from the doubters, we told you “say no”,
Mocking me now as I’m crushed from this blow.
Cash funds, or a tracker would have caused less strife,
How will I explain this all to my wife?

Happy Christmas.blockchain to you all.

Thanks to Martin for letting us use it. You can follow him on Twitter here.
