In an email with the subject heading “We’d like you to meet someone”, Turia shared the happy news with friends and some members of the media.

“Michael and I want to introduce you to someone ... Meet Hakavai Hoskin,” she wrote.

“We’ll be in this little newborn bubble for a few weeks but we wanted to pop our heads out for a moment to share the news directly with you.

“We are totally in love, and just so stoked!”

She also shared two pictures.

Pitt received burns to 65 per cent of her body in 2011 during an ultra-marathon in Western Australia, and has spent the past six years recovering from her horrific injuries.

Her remarkable journey garnered her hundreds of thousands of followers worldwide.

Last month in the lead up to the birth she discussed with news.com.au how she was about to endure a new element of pain.

At the time Pitt said she was “really excited about giving birth”.

“I’m not nervous, I’m ready for it,” she said.

“I’m really excited about giving birth. I’ve had a lot of pain through my experiences, and it’s pain which doesn’t have a meaning for it.

“But the day of the birth, yes it will be hard and intense but at the end of the day I’ll get a baby from the pain — and how cool is that?”
