A MAN has died and a woman has been found unconscious at a kinky sex festival held in woodlands in the UK.
The Flamefest festival attracted hundreds of revellers, including Australians, who paid about $485 to attend the X-rated event at Brokes Wood near Kent.
But it turned to tragedy on Tuesday when police found a man in his 50s at the festival campsite who was unable to be revived.
Police said the death was being treated as “unexplained†while investigations continue.
An unconscious woman was also found at the scene and she was taken to a local hospital by air ambulance.
It is unclear what caused the couple to become unconscious. According to the Telegraph, some revellers claimed the man’s death was due to drug use while another man suggested it could have been caused by barbecue fumes.
The official Facebook page for the Flamefest event appears to have been removed.
The Flamefest event featured a dungeon, a dominatrix-controlled “adult play areaâ€, steamy outdoor tubs and erotic workshops, including one called “Getting Sexy with Snakesâ€.
According to the festival’s website, the three-day event is a descent into “the purest, most hedonistic elements of the party scene, from kinksters to ravers†where the intrepid “explore pain, experience pleasure and fulfil your fantasiesâ€.
But locals had lodged complaints about the controversial event.
“I’m no prude but this is the wrong place for this sort of thing. It’s a residential area,†Councillor Dianne Hill told Kent Live.
Ms Hill said she has received numerous complaints about the sex-focused affair.
“A big worry is they say there will be coaches (buses) coming down,†she said.
“Where are they going to park? People are obviously going to be concerned about the noise.â€
Resident Chris Herbert, 42, said he simply doesn’t “want a bunch of perverts descending on our townâ€.
“These people are coming for an orgy and it’s going to create hell on the roads as the woods can only be got to along a single track road,†Mr Herbert said.
