Italian tourist Laura Predosa was arrested shortly after CCTV footage emerged of an attack at a McDonald's in Bankgkok’s “backpack ghetto”.

A DRUNK Italian woman has been charged after video emerged showing her yanking a woman’s hair and kicking her in the head inside a McDonald’s in an angry fit.

Italian tourist Laura Predosa says she was “drunk and angry” the night of the attack at a McDonald’s in Khao San Road, Bankgkok’s “backpacker ghetto”.

If convicted in a Thai court, the graphic designer could face one month in prison or a AU$381 fine.

The victim of the frenzied attack, who Ms Predosa yanked by the hair and kicked in the head, was a Thai female and claimed she had never even met or spoken to her attacker before.

Ms Perdosa was not initially charged after the attack, but after CCTV footage emerged online, an angry response by the local community saw police press charges.

The incident occurred on Saturday at 3am in one of the biggest tourist districts in Bangkok. It is renowned for late night clubbing, exotic dancers and ping pong shows.

CCTV footage narrated by the victim’s friend was uploaded to a popular social site account in Thailand that highlights local crime. The friend gives her version of the events as the video plays.

The footage shows Ms Perdosa in an argument at the counter with one of her friends before they seem to make up, giving each other a hug.

After appearing to walk towards the exit of the McDonald’s, Ms Perdosa turns back towards the victim, who is sitting nearby by the door.

Suddenly, Ms Perdosa yanks the woman’s hair to the ground and kicks her in the head.

“My friend had nothing to do with this gang. She was confused. Like, ‘What the hell?” the friend says in the video.

After the attack the friend claimed Chanasongkhram police told the victim that filing a report was a “waste of time”, despite the victim claiming she was randomly attacked without any rhyme or reason.

But after friends of the woman turned to social media, the backlash forced police to respond.

A statement said the victim suffered minor injuries.

Police arrested the suspect, a graphic designer, at a condominium in Suan Luang, an hour’s drive from Khao San Road, on Sunday morning.

After being questioned by police, Ms Perdosa claimed she was drunk when the victim showed a “negative attitude” towards her, provoking her to assault the woman. It wasn’t made clear what Ms Perdosa made clear by “negative attitude”.

The footage shows Ms Perdosa, in a black tank top, initially ordering food at the McDonald’s counter alongside three friends.

Ms Predosa flew to Thailand on July 17 and was scheduled to return to Italy on September 15.
