There’s something particularly lovely about this photo of Michelle and Barack Obama.

He just can’t seem to nail a hand-hold.

Yesterday, the First Lady of the United States was filmed swatting her husband’s hand away in Tel Aviv. (If you missed that fabulously awkward footage yesterday, you can view it above).

And then again today, she seemed to pull her hand away from his as they disembarked a plane in Rome:

The King of Saudi Arabia though? Come right in there, buddy. Let’s shake it out.

Body language experts are having a field day with the footage of the Trumps, as are Twitter users.

So what better timing for former White House photographer Pete Souza to share this photo he snapped of former President Barack Obama and wife Michelle:

The simple caption “holding hands” seems to be a perfectly subtle swipe.

Souza has been posting some glorious throwback photos of the Obamas on his Instagram account, which now has over 1.3 million followers.

But all is not lost for Souza. Since leaving his role as White House photographer he has found a new gig ... shooting the new promo photos for House of Cards.

And don’t you worry about the Obamas — they’re just fine too. It seems particularly Michelle Obama is having a ball in Italy:
